这一集，猪爷爷正得意洋洋地带佩奇参观自己的菜园子，边走边给佩奇介绍他的菜园布局："卷心菜我种在这儿、胡萝卜我种在那儿，这一切我都打理得井井有条。"
就在这时候，猪奶奶笑眯眯地搬来一个戴红帽子、留白胡子、咧嘴傻笑的塑料小矮人。猪爷爷一看，当场炸了："I can't have that ugly thing looking at me all day!"（我可不能让那个丑东西整天盯着我！）
可猪奶奶没搭理猪爷爷，转头问佩奇和乔治："你们觉得它丑吗？"
佩奇和乔治说可爱后，猪奶奶立刻拍板宣布："You are outnumbered."（少数服从多数！）
三比一票数大比分领先！小矮人光荣入驻花园！
狗斯基只能感叹这段剧情过于真实了，哈哈~
为了搞清楚猪爷爷说的这"丑东西"到底什么来头，我特意去查了一下。
这种小矮人叫Garden Gnome，在欧洲有上百年历史。根据德国民间传说，人们相信这种小矮人会帮忙打理农场和矿井里的活儿，从某种程度上来说有点像咱们的"花园土地公"。
（Gnome 的 G不发音，这个单词发 no me，大家可以查查词典或者看视频的时候注意听一下发音）
有一名叫Charles Isham 的英国爵士在1847年从德国一口气带了21个陶土小矮人回家，往花园里一摆，从此在英国彻底火了。最神的是，那21个里有一个居然保存到了今天，名字叫"Lampy"，保额有100万英镑呢！
乖乖，这比我全部身家加起来都值钱，哈哈~
说起来，不止猪爷爷嫌它丑，园艺协会也嫌它丑。由英国皇家园艺协会(RHS)组织的切尔西花展从1990年起就禁止小矮人参展，理由是嫌它太俗气。这三十多年来唯一破例展出的原因还是在2013年花展100周年庆回归的，从那次以后小矮人就再也没回归过。
有意思的是，英国国王查尔斯三世是小矮人的头号粉丝，他在自己的庄园Highgrove Gardens里就摆了小矮人。鉴于国王是小矮人的粉丝，在今年的皇家园艺协会组织的切尔西花展中，小矮人被协会解除封印，将会回归展会继续展示

猪奶奶要是知道了，估计得拍着猪爷爷的肩膀说："看吧，连国王都站我这边。

这一集里，猪爷爷嘴上嫌弃小矮人嫌得要死，可到了最后，他居然主动把一整车小矮人和许愿井全搬到了猪爸爸家的花园里。

4. nonsense /ˈnɒnsns/ 胡说八道
"Nonsense! You've got plenty of room."
胡说!你们家地方大着呢。
(注:这是个特别好用的反驳词。猪爸爸说家里没地方,猪爷爷一句 Nonsense 直接堵了回去。类似于跟朋友之前开玩笑时用温柔的语气说了一句”胡扯呢你“的意思。)
5. wishing well /ˈwɪʃɪŋ wel/ 许愿井
"It's a wishing well. You throw a coin into it and make a wish."
这是一口许愿井。往里扔一枚硬币,就能许个愿。
(注:wish 是"许愿",well 是"井"。虽然猪爷爷吐槽"没有水的井有什么用",但佩奇许的愿最后还真实现了——她把一整车小矮人和许愿井都搬回了自己家。所以说,许愿井灵不灵不知道,猪爷爷亏不亏是肯定的。)

台词原文：

猪奶奶：地方多的是。放这儿怎么样？
狗斯基解读：猪爷爷说"没地方放"，猪奶奶一句 plenty of room 就给怼回去了。plenty of 是英语里表示"很多、大把的、多的是"的地道说法，比 a lot of 更有底气，带着一种"你说啥呢，明明就有"的语气。
这句话生活中特别好用，比如：
别人催你赶紧走，但你觉得时间还早：Don't worry, we've got plenty of time.（别急，时间多的是。）
朋友来家里做客时可以说"随便坐哪儿就行"：Sit anywhere, there's plenty of space.（随便坐，地方大着呢。）

狗斯基解读：佩奇许愿的时候大喊"I wish! I wish! I wish!"猪奶奶赶紧拦住她：别说出来！看来这跟咱们许愿时的规矩一模一样，许愿说出来就不灵了。
这句话的重点是 wish for 这个搭配。wish 后面不能直接接东西，要加个 for。"你许了什么愿"不是"What did you wish"，而是"What did you wish for"。
例句：
过生日吹蜡烛：
A: What did you wish for? （你许了什么愿？）
B: I can't tell you, or it won't come true. （不能说，说了就不灵了。）

belong 这个词特别好用，意思是"属于、该待在某个地方"，但它的搭配不同，意思也不一样：
