• bargain  n./v. negotiate

Shopkeeper: Hello, may I help you?

Customer: Yeah, this dress is really nice. How much is it?

Shopkeeper: That one is $150.

Customer: A hundred and fifty dollars? What about this other one over here?

Shopkeeper: That's $140.

Customer: Um, that's a bit out of my price range. Can you give me a better deal?

Shopkeeper: This is an exclusive design by Damarco. It's a bargain at that price!

Customer: Well, I don't know. I think I'll shop around.

Shopkeeper: Okay, okay... how about $100?

Customer: That's still more than I wanted to spend. What if I take both dresses?

Shopkeeper: Okay, I can give you a special discount, just because you seem like a nice person. $190 for both.

Customer: Hmm, I don't know. Still a bit pricey. Thanks anyway.

Shopkeeper: Okay, my final price: $100 for both. That's two for the price of one. And that's my last offer.

Customer: Great! You got a deal.

💰 price range 价格范围

The minimum and maximum amount you're willing to spend on something you want to buy."It's out of my price range."（这超出了我的预算。）

👉 out of my price range = 超出预算 / 买不起

I really like this bag, but it's out of my price range.（我很喜欢这个包，但它超出我的预算了。）

What's your price range for an apartment?（你租房的价格范围是多少？）

🛍️ shop around 货比三家

To check prices in different stores before deciding where to buy."I think I'll shop around."（我想我去别家看看。）

👉 这句话在砍价时是经典战术！意思是：如果你不给我便宜点，我就去别家买了。

You should shop around before buying a car.（买车之前你应该货比三家。）

If you shop around, you might find a better deal.（如果你多逛几家，可能会找到更划算的。）

💸 pricey 有点贵

An informal way of saying expensive.（"expensive"的非正式说法，更口语化。）

"Still a bit pricey."（还是有点贵。）

👉 这句话也是砍价时的常用语——即使价格已经降了，还是要说"还是有点贵"，为继续讲价留空间。

The food at that restaurant is a bit pricey, but it's delicious.（那家餐厅的食物有点贵，但很好吃。）

I like this jacket, but it's too pricey for me right now.（我喜欢这件夹克，但现在对我来说太贵了。）

1. Can you give me a better deal？能便宜点吗？

🎧 Example Dialogue 这个例子有点长……是个对话，再看一次如何讨价还价吧……

Customer: Hi there, I like this model, but can you give me a better deal?

Salesperson: I'll see what I can do. Have you checked other places?

Customer: Yes, I've been shopping around a bit. I just want to get the best price.

Salesperson: That makes sense. What's your price range?

Customer:Ideally, something a little lower than what's listed here.

Salesperson: Okay, let me check if there are any promotions on this model.

Customer: That would be great. Thanks.

Salesperson: It looks like we have a small discount. It's not much, but it helps.

Customer: I appreciate that. Do you think there's any more flexibility?

Salesperson: Well, how soon are you looking to buy?

Customer: Pretty soon. I want to make sure I'm getting a fair price.

Salesperson: I understand. Are you comparing this model with others?

Customer: Yes, but this one has what I need. I just need a good deal on it.

Salesperson: What if I throw in【附送】 a small accessory【配件】? Would that help?

Customer: That could work. What do you have in mind?

Salesperson: We have a few options — a case or maybe a charging dock.

Customer: A charging dock would be useful. But could the price go down a bit more?

Salesperson: Let me see. If you're ready to decide today, I might be able to adjust it a bit more.

Customer: That's tempting【诱人的】. How much could you adjust?

Salesperson: Maybe 5% off, if that helps.

Customer: I appreciate that. Could we go 10%?

Salesperson: 10% might be tough. How about I meet you halfway【折中】?

Customer: Alright, halfway sounds fair. Can you add the charging dock too?

Salesperson: I can add the dock, yes. So, are you ready to go with this deal?

Customer: Almost. Any chance you could include an extended warranty【延长保修】?

Salesperson: The basic warranty is included. The extended one is extra, but I could discount it.

Customer: How much discount on the extended warranty?

Salesperson: I can offer 20% off the extended warranty. Does that sound good?

Customer: That's better. Let's go ahead with that.

Salesperson: Perfect! I'll get everything set up for you.

Customer: Thank you. This worked out well.

2.That's still more than I wanted to spend.这还是比我预想的花费要多。

3.That's my last offer.这是最低价了 / 不能再低了。

🛍️ DIALOGUE: A Friendly Bargain 又来一个对话！

Customer: Hi, I'm interested in buying this item, but I was wondering if we could work on the price a bit.

Seller: Sure, I'd be happy to discuss it. What price are you hoping to pay?

Customer: Well, I noticed it's listed at $70. I was thinking $50 might be more reasonable.

Seller: I see where you're coming from, but $50 is quite a bit lower than the listing price. How does $65 sound?

Customer: I appreciate that, but $65 is still a bit high for me. I had planned on keeping my spending under $60.

Seller: Under $60, you say? I could possibly do $63, but that's getting close to my limit.

Customer: $63 is closer, but I still think $58 would be more comfortable for my budget.

Seller: I understand, but $58 is really low considering the original price. How about we meet at $60?

Customer: I'm glad we're getting closer, but $60 is right on the edge for me. Would $59 work?

Seller: You drive a hard bargain! $59? All right, you know what? I can agree to $59.

Customer: Thank you, that's very fair. I think $59 is a good deal for both of us.

Seller: I agree. It's always satisfying to reach a fair price. Enjoy your purchase!

Customer: Thanks! I really appreciate you being flexible with the price.

Seller: Anytime. Let me know if you need help with anything else while you're shopping.

Customer: I might just take you up on that. I'm always on the lookout for good bargains.

Seller: Well, feel free to ask anytime. Happy shopping!
