Imagine a school full of fun,freedom and love. It has old railroad cars for classrooms. Itdoesn't have many rules. Theteachers there think "problem kids" are just wonderful ...This is Tomoe ElementarySchool (巴学园)in the Japanesebook Totto-chan: The LittleGirl at the Window <<窗边的小豆豆>>. It became a record-breaking best-seller in 1981.Now,it has a sequel (续篇).

In the new book, the"problem kid"Totto-changrows up and graduates(毕业) from a music school.She becomes famous onTV. Sometimes, she stillgets herself into trouble.But people around treat (对待) her with kindness. They tell her she is fine as she is.

The story of the book is the writer Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's own tale of life.Totto-chan was her childhood nickname. When no otherschools wanted her, Tomoe Elementary School accepted(接受) her.The headmaster spent hours listening to her chatter (喋喋不休的谈论).He often said she was"really agood girl".

It is the love that madeher a confident (自信的) and successful TV host.One of her TV shows got a Guinness World Record for the mostbroadcasts (播放)with a single host. Without the headmaster, "I don't know what would have become of me," Kuroyanagi said.
