一、HOW to practice Speaking

1. Read or listen and respond them

二、Grammatical range and accuracy
Grammatical range problems
1. Overuse of the BE verb (am, is,are,was,were) as the main verb of the sentence.
Examples:
- I am a doctor.
- She was late to the party.
- He is not happy with his grade.
Improvements:
- I practice medicine.
- She arrived late to the party.
- He disliked his grade.
2. Overuse of simple sentences constructions:
Examples:
I studied hard in college.
My mother worked hard for many years.
Improving your Grammatical Range scores:
1.Use connecting words and phrases
Examples:
- However,
- In the afternoon, I usually…
- Despite a few criticisms, my teacher liked…
2.Use coordination (conjunctions)
Examples:
- Jill liked the movie, but she still fell asleep at the end.
- We left the party early and then decided to get some ice cream.
3.Use subordination
- Noun clauses: [What she said] was interesting.
- Adjective clauses: Let's go to the restaurant [that James suggested.]
- Adverb clauses: I ate a lot of candy [when I was younger.]
4.Other structures to say:
- model verbs
- passive voice
- gerunds
